onion kulcha recipe | no tandoor onion kulcha naan | stovetop pyaaz ke kulche with step by step photo and video recipe. kulcha recipes are always popular bread recipes for many indian households. unlike its naan counterpart, it does not require a tandoor oven to bake it and can be made with simple tawa available in the home kitchen. it is generally made with simple spices topping but it can also be made with vegetable topping and onion kulcha is one such variant.
well many would have this confusion or curious about the difference between a kulcha and naan recipe. to be honest, i only a few dot points and i would like to highlight those here. firstly the main difference is the use of baking powder/soda vs yeast. naan uses yeast to get the fermentation process whereas baking powder is used for the same purpose. the second main difference is the use of tandoor vs tawa. naan is particularly made in tandoor whereas kulcha can be made in an oven or tawa. hence kulcha is more popularly made at home and served for lunch and dinner. having said that, you may also use tawa to prepare naan but tandoor is the traditional way. the last but not significant difference is the shape. kulcha can be round like roti whereas naan is generally made like an oval. this is not critical for the taste but just practice.
furthermore some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the onion kulcha recipe. firstly, i have particularly used maida or plain flour to prepare the kulcha dough. this is the traditional way it is made, but you may also use just wheat flour or the combination of wheat and maida in a 1:1 ratio. secondly, the kulcha is topped with spiced and flavoured onions which should make this bread self-serving. you may not require any additional sides to it but tastes great with any spicy gravy curry. lastly, be generous with the amount of butter or ghee applied on top the kulcha. basically, it helps to give a smooth texture to kulcha.
finally, i request you to highlight my other related roti naan recipes collection with this post of onion kulcha recipe. it mainly includes my other related recipes like kulcha, paneer kulcha, masala kulcha, kulcha naan, tandoori roti on tawa, tandoori roti in toaster, chur chur naan, garlic naan, naan, poori. further to these i would also like to add some more additional recipe categories like,
